"Can you catch stammering?"

No!

Some parents fear that their child might "catch" stammering from another child or adult. There is no research evidence that this is the case, and it would seem unlikely that children would opt to speak in this manner if they have the choice. Although, as with all aspects of this complex problem, there have been many anecdotes over the years.
